The Boondooma Dam Fish Stocking and Management Association is a group of volunteers who manage the stocking of fingerlings into local stocked impoundments.

The association was formed in October 1986 for the purpose managing fish stocking to provide a recreational fishery and promote tourism in the South Burnett Region.

The dam filled in May 1983 when still under construction and flooding caused considerable damage to the spillway. Not to be deterred, in December 1983 the first stocking of fish occurred. The South Burnett Apex Club released 30 000 Golden Perch fingerlings. The Wondai Shire Council also became involved in fish stocking and in November 1984 12 000 Silver Perch were released followed by 60 000 Golden Perch in April 1985 and 50 000 in February 1986.

With the advent of SIPS funding, millions of fingerlings have been released into local dams and the association plays an important part of managing that stocking.

Every year, the association runs a Yellowbelly Family Fishing Competition on the second weekend in February to promote the dam and celebrate family and fishing.
